Discovering "Second Thought" and "Mango Bay"

The Annual Flower & Garden Show hosted by the Barbados Horticultural Society at Balls Plantation on January 25th and 26th offers a great opportunity for gardening enthusiasts to explore and appreciate the island's private and public gardens. With January and February being peak months for flower and garden lovers, I believe it's the perfect occasion to showcase two of my favorite properties featuring tropical landscaping and beautiful garden spaces.

Mango Bay: Beachfront 

Hidden away on the west coast of Barbados, Mango Bay is not just a villa; it's a piece of history designed by the renowned Oliver Messel. Its mature gardens just steps from the beach provide a lush backdrop for any occasion. The house features a formal living room that extends to a patio offering an amazing view. Dining options include a seaside gazebo or a pavilion with a coral stone table for fourteen, overlooking the pool and gardens. The property has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms, including a cottage. Fully staffed, it provides night-time security and is conveniently located in St. James, near Holetown and Speightstown, 

Second Thought: In-land 

Located in the exclusive Sandy Lane estate, is Sandy Lane - Second Thought
Set on over 6 acres of lush gardens featuring a palm-thatched dining gazebo and serene ponds. The villa has 6 bedrooms: two spacious master suites with private balconies upstairs, and four guest suites with en-suite bathrooms on the ground floor, providing direct access to the pool and gardens. The drawing and dining room has views of the junior Olympic-sized pool. For those who appreciate the outdoors, every corner of Second Thought’s gardens have been thoughtfully designed and maintained and looks amazing year-round.
