St. Helena

St. Helena sits in tropical gardens right beside the white sand of the West Coast. The main house was designed by the late Oliver Messel and recently renovated by Barbadian architect Larry Warren.

Downstairs in the main house, the family sitting room has a home cinema and opens onto a covered dining patio facing the garden. Two bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms are on this level, which works well for guests who prefer to avoid stairs. Outside, the partly covered pool deck has fountains carved from local coral stone, plus a bar and an al fresco dining area for long lunches and evening drinks.

Upstairs, three large bedrooms each have an en-suite bathroom and sea views. The master bedroom has a canopied bed. A private sitting room called the Napoleon Room makes a quiet spot for reading or working. All the upstairs rooms open onto a semi-circular verandah with a bar and lounge area, where you can watch the sun set over the Caribbean Sea.

The cottage in the grounds has three bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom. It also has a family living room with a kitchenette and a covered verandah for sitting and dining, overlooking the pool and gardens.

Between the house and the water, a beachside gazebo is set up for meals. You can swim from the shore, where there is a private raft. An aviary in the grounds is home to 500 homing budgerigars. Staff are on hand to help make your stay relaxed.
